God Is Doing A New Thing

Scripture:

Isaiah 43:18-19 - 16 “Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old.  Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it?  I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”

Synopsis:

The year 2008 is a year of a new order.  It is a year of doing “first” things and initiating new things.  It is also a year of spiritual “fatness” which represents super-abundant fertility and productivity, of becoming “big,” too big for those things that held you back in the past.  With this kind of mandate on the body of Christ in general and on the Epicenter specifically, the Kingdom of God is certain to advance in our city, our nation and throughout the world.

God’s plan to advance his kingdom always prevails.  But we as believers, if we are to be a part of his plan, have a responsibility to comprehend it, apprehend it and activate it in our lives.  When we move from understanding to making a commitment to do what God wants, that’s when it seems God opens up a moment in time to release a new thing.  God’s pattern is to create or initiate a new thing by first bringing the old thing to an end through a season of chaos and confusion.  In 2 Kings 2: 8 – 14, this pattern is used when God initiates Elisha’s ministry as prophet to the nation of Israel by ending Elijah’s ministry in a whirlwind.  Out of the whirlwind came a mantle and a double portion of anointing for Elisha, but only because he comprehended and apprehended his season and positioned himself to receive God’s new thing.

In this new era God has initiated, how we position ourselves at its commencement will determine its impact on us and generations of believers to come.  In this season God is calling for “alignment” and not just agreement, where there is a joining of forces and resources, and a merging and combining for strength.  This new movement will include people from all walks of life, ethnic groups, age groups and generations.  It will be represented by a corporate anointing released on a people, and characterized by an attitude of mercy, freedom from religious prejudice, a radical boldness and a penchant for building up the lives of people in places considered to be wastelands.  God is doing a new thing.  Do you want in on it?
